Complete guide
Doublets deals seven non-King reserve cards and uses an eighth to start one foundation. Cards follow a repeating doubled-rank sequence, reserves refill automatically, and the four Kings remain outside the completed 48-card foundation.

A required rank may come from any occupied reserve or the waste. Playing a reserve card fills that slot from the waste first and then directly from stock, immediately changing the available choices.
Kings are excluded from the opening eight cards and can never enter the foundation. By the winning state, all four Kings remain in reserve slots while every stock and waste card has been processed.
The waste may be recycled twice for three total stock passes. Because the order is not shuffled, use reserve refills to alter which cards remain exposed when a required rank approaches.

They remain outside the 48-card foundation, normally occupying four reserve slots.
