The first foundation card determines the starting rank for all four suits. If it is a Seven, for example, every foundation must begin with its Seven before rising through King, Ace, and onward to Six.

Rules, scoring, and strategy
Four Seasons arranges five tableau cards in a cross and places four foundations around it. One dealt foundation card determines a shared base rank, and both tableau and foundation sequences may wrap across the Ace-King boundary.
The tableau descends with wrap
Move one exposed card onto the previous rank regardless of suit. The sequence wraps, so a King may be placed below an Ace; any single card may also fill an empty tableau pile.
Foundations ascend in suit
Each foundation belongs to one suit and builds upward from the base rank with the same wrap. A King is followed by Ace when the base sequence requires it, and each pile ends with the rank before the base.
Manage a one-pass waste
Stock cards turn one at a time onto the waste and cannot be redealt. Before exposing another card, use the current waste top on a foundation or tableau whenever doing so preserves useful mobility.

Why do the foundations not always start with Aces?
The first dealt foundation card sets a random base rank, and the other three foundations must start with that same rank.
Can a King be placed on an Ace in the tableau?
Yes. Tableau sequences descend with rank wrapping, so King is the predecessor of Ace.
Does Four Seasons allow a redeal?
No. The stock is turned once and the exposed waste top must be managed carefully.
