Complete guide
Rectangle Division is a complete browser implementation with its own versioned rules profile. Divide a 4×4 board into four non-overlapping area-four rectangles, one for each corner clue.

Choose one candidate for each clue. Selected rectangles may not overlap, every selected rectangle must contain its own single clue, and together they must cover all sixteen cells without gaps.
Select the unique exact cover of the board with four clue-bearing rectangles. Count covered cells after the fourth choice and verify that each clue belongs to exactly one selected region.
Compare the few shapes available to each corner, eliminate any pair that overlaps, and favor a choice that still leaves a valid area-four region for every other clue. Four individually valid rectangles can still be wrong if they overlap or leave uncovered cells in the center.
