How to play

Reveal and place all 52 cards before the final King stops the chain.

  • Deal four hidden cards to each of twelve clock positions and the center King pile, then reveal one center card.
  • Place the active card at the position matching its rank and reveal the next hidden card from that position.
  • Continue the forced chain; uncovering every pile wins, while reaching the fourth King too early leaves hidden cards and loses.

Strategy tips

  • There are no branching move choices, so use the layout to track progress through each rank pile.
  • Kings route the chain back to the center, where only four hidden cards exist.
  • A nearly cleared clock can still fail if the last center card is exposed before all other piles empty.

Complete guide

Rules, scoring, and strategy

Clock Solitaire distributes the deck among twelve rank positions and a center King pile. One active card determines exactly where it is placed and which hidden card is revealed next, creating a forced chain with no strategic branch.

Thirteen positions hold four cards each

Ranks Ace through Queen correspond to the twelve clock positions and Kings use the center. The opening active card comes from the center pile, leaving three hidden center cards and four hidden cards at every other rank.

Every rank selects the next pile

Place the active card face up at its own rank position, then reveal the next hidden card from that position. Its rank directs the following placement, so the chain continues automatically.

The fourth King is the deadline

Every King routes play back to the center. If the last center card becomes the active King while any other pile still contains hidden cards, the chain stops and the deal is lost.

Completion means total exposure

The game is won only when every hidden pile is empty and all 52 cards have reached their rank positions. The interface records the chain and progress even though each legal action is forced.

Questions players ask

Can I choose which pile to open?

No. The active card's rank determines the only legal destination and next pile.

Where do Kings go?

All Kings are placed in the center, the thirteenth clock position.

Why can the fourth King end the game?

It empties the center before another hidden pile can continue the forced chain.
